Is this some kind of Dojo? No, Otaku is japanese slang used in describing fans for any particular hobby, theme, subject, etc, you name it.  Otaku is your own personal fan made realm of anime, collectibles, dvd’s, action figures, gaming, etc. Packed and arranged at your desire into any given space, in this particular case: your room.

Otacool: World Wide Otaku Rooms is Kotobukiya’s first English / Japanese language book that will delight readers with a selection of over more than 108 Otaku rooms from around the globe. A Stormtrooper in my room? Not precisely, Danny Choo is an eager enthusiast who has contributed big time to modern pop culture as a Stormtrooper-Vader public performer. His energy inspires Otaku followers around the world to the point that at the AFA ‘09 he and gorgeous Otaku Alodia Gosiengfiao autographed the launch of the Otacool books.

Why is being an Otaku important? It empowers you, it builds up fan based energy that pushes a world wide industry forward in which fans dictate the rules for studios, toy designers, video game producers, illustrators, comic book writers, etc on what they really like and dig for.  Being an Otaku is more than gathering and building up stuff, it’s a declaration of knowledge and believes that moves pop culture to new frontiers of fan based imagination and dreams.
