In “Persia fan land” thousands of divided opinions have emerged around the web due to the recently released Prince of Persia Movie Trailer . Wow! If it’s only a trailer then why the big hype? Every movie trailer will get its comments by hundreds, but when a movie trailer is based upon a video game or a certain superhero then the pressure on that trailer is exponentially incremented. The reason: Hardcore fans make these particular movie trailers walk a very thin line, in the line of fire with facts of real knowledge. And of course, the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is no exception to the rule.
As a die hard fan to the Prince of Persia series and one who has played all it’s franchise games with honors, honestly the trailer doesn’t look bad at all. One thing is for sure: I have no doubt in my mind that the movie will not be faithful to the Prince of Persia video game; say it now and said it before. I won’t go there… That’s why I stated my case clear in past posts like: Prince of Persia will be lost in time! and Vizier Speaks out: Prince of Persia Movie will be a sand mess!!! Until it’s official movie release and thru time, I will give the “charming Prince” movie the benefit of the doubt. However I’ll say what’s good with the trailer and what’s not, according to the essence of the Persian Prince.
THE GOOD:
-Jake Gylenhaal is all right, he makes a good resemble of the Prince, especially a look a like with the one of the Warrior Within. Dude is okay.
-The detail and crafting of the dagger makes justice to the original The Sands of Time video game.
-Some jumps from side to side that Gylenhaal makes in the trailer are faithful to the every day jumps and plunges the Prince made in each of its games.
-Vast open world and beautiful landscapes are true to the franchise.
THE VERY BAD:
-The trailer opens up with Gylenhaal like a Assassin’s Creed Altair. Come on! The “eagle eye view” plunge from a wooden beam??!! Bruckheimer, did you for God’s sake ever played the video game?
-Gemma Arterton is hot! However, her voice is to put a dagger thru it, simply annoying!
-Bad, bad taste showing off the Pirates of the Caribbean, credit! It’s like saying: “Hey, look we are going to make another Pirates of the Caribbean out of Prince of Persia!” Disney cannot and will never be able to handle out blood and gore, and boy is the Prince known for delivering a lot of it!
-There is a cutscene in where the Prince resembles the one of the The Two Thrones. Just out of place, is Disney trying to hype out and drain the different Prince personalities in a single movie?
-If they would’ve named the movie: Prince of Persia the Forbidden Kingdom or something like that, then probably this post would’ve never existed as well as the online fuss… They messed it up by naming it The Sands of Time and this my friends, will never be like The Sands of Time.
When adaptations are not faithful to the core story, they’re are condemned for fan punishment… I insist, just like the crap from G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra or Dragon Ball Evolution. In this case, for people who didn’t played the video games this could be a good movie, for those who played the video games… Skeptical on this one reigns are thoughts… Will see until release date of May 2010.

Thanks for the introspective. For what I read their my “spidey sense” is right: Story line is still weak. Wouldn’t be to much of a fuss it was
not named “The Sands of Time” and I knew it that Disney wants to replicate Pirates of the Caribbean in the Persian world. For money success I get it, but at what cost with the Prince of Persia brand?
