God of War should not be a movie!

God of War showdown!

When a work of art is born ahead of its time it could easily be endangered by box office hunger, before it reaches it’s adulthood. Some masterpieces should be put out of all harms way from the commercial hype phenomena of making a movie out of everything. Especially when what is at “game” is the the reputation of a true Spartan warrior, and no Spartan wants to take things in a soft way like Kratos from the God of War franchise.

God of War is one of the finest video games of the PS2 system and one of the reasons I still remain faithful to the Playstation console. But not everybody in the world owns a Playstation system, so what is God of War all about?
Zeus had forbidden all Olympian Gods from going against each other. Kratos a former bad ass Spartan Captain is aided by Athena in a quest for finding Pandora’s Box and therefore to kill the God of War: Ares. Athena wanted Ares dead because his army was destroying Athens, and only a mortal like Kratos could answer her request. In the other hand,Kratos had its own personal reasons to have the God of War wiped out for good, from all Olympic scene. In the midst of battle, Kratos was blindfolded by his own successful blood trail, but what he didn’t realize is that Ares lured the Spartan Captain into a Greek village where he was tricked by the God of War himself and the result was Kratos murdering his own wife and daughter.  So Kratos very own family carnage drives him into a bloodthirsty quest for revenge against the God of War.

Kratos roams thru the Desert of Lost Souls in search for the Titan Cronos who wanders eternally in time with the Pandora’s Temple on his back. So things for Kratos get more intense and challenging as he fights his way across hideous creatures and deadly puzzles in search of Pandora’s Box.  As Kratos finally succeeds in finding “the box” Ares kills him and therefore Kratos falls into the Underworld. Aided by some harpies, Ares recovers Pandora’s Box. Kratos fights his way out of the Underworld and makes it all the way to recover “the box”. Once done, Kratos unleashes its magical powers triggering him to reach a superhuman gigantic proportion on par with Ares and the battle between a “super mortal” and the Olympian God commences.  So the winner takes all and it’s Kratos the one who passes from a simple Spartan Captain to a former god who now takes a seat at Olympus as the new God of War.

God of War is a game of epic proportions, tons of blood and mutilations, beautiful and well crafted scenarios, top art direction and different beasts and mythological monsters and characters that come in all shapes and tempers. So unless you don’t have a Peter Jackson, Zack Snyder or Guillermo del Toro and a minimum movie budget of $250,000,000 God of War, should not be a movie. Don’t get me wrong, if there is one video game I’d love to see in the big screen along with its trilogy is this one! However taking Kratos into box office would require of state to the art work and well crafted locations and lots of money. God of War is all about a huge adventure of revenge, but when we talk about Titans, Minotaurs, Gorgons, Hydra, etc, we are talking about the best CGI we can get to reflect on the big screen what we gamers truly experienced in our tv screen.  Rumors and spoilers of a Kratos movie have started way back since Zack Snyder’s 300 open the possibility door for the God of War. Unless every detail of this superb video game is not revised to the eye by a film making studio, and all the key factors are not taken in extreme consideration on what made this game great; Kratos fury should not be put to the test, just to make out another movie that emerges from a video game frenzy.

Don't provoke Kratos!

Toying around with the Blades of Chaos!

Got what it takes to worship a movie as a god?
