Can Sinestro ignite the “lord of the rings” for DC Universe?
Think of Hal Jordan and all the Green Lantern Corps as the main dish and Sinestro and the Yellow Lanterns as the “salt and pepper” ready to sizzle up your DC Universe in an all you can eat battle of the rings festival. When it comes in bringing “universal chaos”, nobody delivers trouble better, than the Yellow Lantern’s leader: Sinestro
As vast as space, so it is for the new Green Lantern saga, and to make a long story short this is how Sinestro triggers it all out: Sinestro and friends vanquish thousands of Green Lanterns. The Guardians of the Universe give Hal a “green light” to capture Sinestro for prior imprisonment and later death sentence. However, the Red Lanterns had a “score to settle” with Sinestro. The Red Lanterns race one step ahead of Hal and abduct Sinestro just to prepare him for a special “bloody treatment”. Aided by some Blue Lanterns, Hal Jordan’s new mission was to save Sinestro from the Red Lanterns as he would be key for a near “dark future” and then, a universal no holds barreled, all hell breaks loose, sparkles up the War of the Light and Sinestro’s mess triggers the Blackest Night Prophecy.
DC’s legendary writer: Geoff Johns along with magic pencil Ivan Reis and illustrator Dough Mahnke, have just started what it seems to be one of the best comic book sagas ever, if not the best there is. As emotions are universal, so is the central idea of Geoff and friends given to the Green Lanterns story arch. So if emotions had colors, what would they stand for?: Green emotions stand for willpower, red emotions stand for rage, orange go for greed, yellow emotions embrace fear, blue emotions deliver hope, indigo stands for compassion, violet emotions stand for love and black emotions crave for death. Emotions are universal baby!
Geoff’s proposal is fresh, witty and complex. Without any doubt and with years to come, we could probably start talking about a new series of movies that will “light up” the box office with what I would describe as the “lord of the rings” saga, for the DC Universe. The storyline is so intense, that it has all the features to easily become something huge, if DC has plans to attempt on the big screen something on par as the “Lord of the Rings“, but for the comic book universe. Let your emotions flow and don’t keep your eyes off these precious rings, they might bring something powerful.
