Mickey Mouse pays Spidey and friends $4,000M for a permanent stay at Disney

Is the Magic Kingdom prepared for this kind of unbelievable magic?

Is the Magic Kingdom prepared for this kind of unbelievable magic?

I don’t know if we should rejoice or grief about the news, but since last Friday Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment for the modest sum of 2,800 million euros which in dollars equals the juicy amount of 4,000 millions. According to Marvel corporate delegate, Ike Perlmutter: “Disney is the perfect home for all of Marvel characters, due to it’s global business capacity and expanding license vision growth”. So if Mickey Mouse and all his buddies wasn’t enough, Disney now takes over 5,000 Marvel characters!!! Hope we don’t see any of Marvel’s creations at a Kingdom Hearts saga. Simply some things should not mix, and this is one of them. You’ve been warned.

Question know and what’s starting to freak out Marvel fans all over the world, is what’s going to happen to Marvel characters? Will they go cheesy? Will characters become soft? I don’t think so, Marvel is Marvel.  And the brand and it’s characters are way to strong to go the wrong way. As long as Marvel and their creators supervise and advise Disney for the does and don’ts part, then nothing should go wrong. Besides Ike Perlmutter states that he will work shoulder to shoulder with Disney and supervise Marvel business integrations. This corporate take over is almost a done deal, still Marvel stockholders have the last call if they grant Mickey and their buddies a green light for a Disney-Marvel homecoming reception. Although I’m not completely thrilled with the Marvel sellout, I must give Disney the benefit of the doubt by now. Can The Magic Kingdom bear the magic for Marvel? We’ll see.

  1. This has come as quite a shock to me. I am not sure what to expect. I want to say Disney can’t screw things up, but I have been wrong before about movies. Here’s hoping for the best. That’s all we really can do.

Yeah Brian everybody is in shock. What hits my nerve the most is that in whatever upcoming movie will have the cool Marvel logo upon up and then the cheesy Disney Pictures intro.
Damn man, somethings shouldn’t mix and you are amongst millions of fans like me, not enthusiastic about this buyout. Let’s give the benefit of the doubt.

  3. I’ve never been a huge Disney fan of the whole experience, but let’s face it…they own a lot nowadays…for instance Sin City :(

Your right, nevertheless it still gets me nervous if they won’t mess up the characters. I really hope they as owners keep it simple and let the Marvel business go on, with them not sticking their nose onto something they don’t know.
